I first dealt with Clarisa, who gave me every excuse for not refunding MY MONEY. After refusing several times and telling me to file fraud charges at the bank. They would also make note of me claiming FRAUD. The charge was made today, ANY other business would reverse the charges!! After repeating herself, talking to her supervisor Alison I asked to speak with her and told her I would stay on the phone ALL NIGHT, the supervisor REFUSED to give me MY MONEY back she ended up just HANGING UP ON ME!! THE WORLDS WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. THEY ARE THRIVES just like "Patricia Davis" is!!
Unbelievable. I have never ever come across a company with worse communications skills. I asked them to confirm that my payment to the Hotel I stayed at in New York 3 months ago had been paid to the hotel, as I was charged by the hotel also. So charged twice. They where in no way going to give me an answer. I am still asking them. They keep sending me to a new person that keep not helping me. If being on helpful was a job these people would be the worlds best!!! At least they have that!
I wish I had taken more notice of the abundance of extremely negative reviews before I used this site! Having sold me a hotel "in" a certain location in Paris, it turned out I will be staying a 25 minute walk away, in a different Arrondisement altogether! To add insult to injury, the same hotel chain actually has a branch in the area in which the other one was supposedly in according to their description!? When I pointed this out within a few hours of booking, I was told in no uncertain terms that it was my own tough luck, and that the terms and conditions I agreed to meant I would not get an alternative hotel in the actual area I was supposed to be booking in, or any form of solution or assistance from the very unhelpful staff. They ignored my point that they had used misleading information to sell me a hotel outside of the area they were claiming it was in, and told me that it was within walking distance and had been "in the shaded area". I have used these sites before and never had any issue, always found them great, and I'm not at all the type to post negative reviews or complain at all, but this is honestly just disgraceful! I will never ever use this site and have already warned friends and family about avoiding this money-grabbing trap! Abysmal customer service, lying about the hotel to sell it as being in the location I wanted....AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL...AVOID!!!!
I researched hotels and B&B's within a certain area of a city that's a tourist destination. I was willing to book a room in an area that was close to but not part of the main tourist area. The hotels and all the B&B's that I researched on various Internet sites in this area had free parking. But Hotwire had a "Hot Rate" deal that looked too good to be true. It was! I booked thru them and then found that this hotel had a parking charge of $21 per day. When added to the hotel room cost, the cost of their so-called "Hot Rate Deal" ended up costing more than direct bookings I could have made at other hotels and B&B's in the same area which had free parking. I contacted Hotwire Customer Service to complain about the fact that they promoted a Hot Rate Deal for a hotel that had add-on parking costs and told them that the cost of the room ended up actually being higher than several booking opportunities I could have made directly. I asked for either a refund or for them to re-book me in another hotel in the area at the advertised rate. I received no cooperation and was told in essence, "too bad..next time read the fine print in the Terms and Conditions." There will be NO next time. So, Users beware....................
I had a meeting scheduled for the morning in a city several hours away so I went through Hotwire Hot Rate for a better deal on a hotel. I've used the service once before for the same purpose, sunk several hundred dollars into it in fact, as well as to book flights, so I was coming back to use it again. I have many meetings coming up due to my line of work and was planning on being a repeat customer, using their service exclusively every time I need to stay out of town because I was impressed with the rates. However, after my meeting was canceled last minute and I was flat out refused a refund or any sort of incentive to continue being a customer, I will not go through this service again.
Anything I save booking through their service is negated when I am not allowed to cancel. Saving a little money should not be contingent upon the agreement that you will actually lose an upwards of $100 if your plans wind up changing. Additionally, there is no contingency for a hotel that is filthy/infested/unlivable, which is completely irresponsible on their part.
This complete lack of flexibility tells me that they have no sense of customer loyalty and really don't care about or appreciate my business. Because of this, I will be forced to take my business to a company that does.
Just to note: the hotel itself accepts cancellations, understanding that plans can change, but because they get paid through Hotwire, I had to go through Hotwire's customer service in order to do so. Hotwire refuses to honor the policies of the hotels they work with which I consider to be sleazy.
WOW - wish I would have read reviews before booking with Hotwire!
Can I just say, SLEEZY COMPANY! Had to reschedule an upcoming trip due to a death in the family. Hotwire states, "no refunds or modification, we may consider if you send us a death certificate". Send you a death certificate, are you kidding me? Even if I went thru the embarrassment of asking for a death cert for this sleezy company, they would probably deny it anyway. I will make a point to tell everyone I know how this company is sleezy and slimy and I will write reviews on every site I can find. I just lost $175.00!

The worst car and service I have ever encountered. My car was damaged with the bumper hanging off on the side and the attendant tried to say the damage was done by me. No one came to look at the car when we checked it out. It was 12am and I had to walk the lot for three blocks by myself to get to it. The next morning when I got in to pick up my clients the car was filthy with soda or coffee stains all over the seats and head runner.I have never been so mad in my life. It's not like I picked up a economy car or something so I expected more at lease clean with no damage. The worst part is that I have gotten no where with the company not even an apology. I will post everywhere can so no one else has to go through this.
I order a hotel in NYC for November 4th through November 11th, 2013. Three hours after we had a check-in to the hotel, I received a phone call from a Fraud Department. The person calling did NOT introduce himself, nor did he state what company he was calling from. He mispronounced the name on the order and questioned if I know that person (who turns out is my friend after we figured out the name). Considering I tried several other websites to book a hotel for these dates, I thought he was calling from Priceline and someone tried to commit fraud with our credit card. This person yelled at me saying he is not calling from Priceline refusing to tell me where he is calling from and accusing me of lying. All confused, I kept trying to clear up what he wanted from me. At which point he abruptly ended the call saying he is cancelling the charge. The next thing we know, a concierge of the hotel we were all situated in, contacts us stating that our payment was cancelled.
I immediately started calling the customer service for hotwire trying to figure out what happened. The first person I talked to said he can't do anything and that I must contact the fraud department. I call the risk management department and the line goes straight to voicemail (meanwhile the hotel is threatening to kick us out if we don’t pay immediately). I left three voicemails for the risk management department and to this day (4days later) no returned call!!! I tried calling the customer service again and again. At my third attempt the representative rudely hung up on me when I tried to explain to her that we are being kicked out on the street due to the misunderstanding with the fraud department. All representatives kept telling me there is nothing they can do and there is no way for them to contact the risk management department. "You just have to keep trying" they would say.
We managed to come to an agreement with the hotel that we will pay for the first night we are staying there until our bank sees the money return from our wrongfully cancelled charge. I kept calling back trying to figure out when the money will be returned to the bank, and by the third person I talked to, I was finally told 24-48 hours. A total of 96 hours has elapsed at this point and we have seen no sign of our money and no returned phone call from the risk management department.

So I booked a hotwire deal in Vegas.....it want cheap but i wantrd to ensure i had a room. the hotel's pool and outdoor area was closed for renovations..... Hot wire said that if I had looked at the terms and conditions that I would have found out that there could be possible amenities closed.....so they sell u a cheap hotel which I could have got half price at full price...knowing that its being refurbished.
A cheap hotel with substandard service and amenities is OK if you pay a low rate..... I didn't!
No offer of a reimebursment etc
I won't use hotwire again and will let everyone I come across about my expiericnec with the company.
I feel ripped off....it really spoiled my holiday :0(

I purchased a flight + car rental, had no problems with flights but my car rental with enterprise didn't work. They said they don't have my booking in their system. I called hotwire representative, and he said the only thing he can do is re-register car rental but for double price this time. THEIR CAR RENTAL DOES NOT WORK !
I booked a hotel in Washington DC 3 weeks ago with the idea of visiting the various museums for the weekend.
Due to the prolonged Government shutdown, many of the museums are also shut down including the Smithsonian where we wanted to go to.
Worried that things were not going to reopen for this weekend, I called Hotwire a few days ago asking if I could postpone this trip. They told me as a company policy they could not refund this hotel stay but said they understood my situation and that I should call back 1 day before my trip and if everything was still closed, they’ll be able to do something about it. I felt relieved.
The day before the trip (today), things are still shut down and so I called Hotwire.
The first customer service person kept repeating the fact that as a company policy they could not refund or do anything about my trip. When I asked her that I spoke with a rep a few days ago who told me he could do something about it, she said that’s not the company policy.
When I next spoke with the manager, she went on saying the same thing. Since I was curious I probed on asking why the rep from a few days ago told me to call back the day before the trip and that he could do something about it - She said she did not know why and could not speak for somebody else.
Having a rigid company policy is one thing, but having customer reps tell me 2 different things is another.
$180 is down the drain with a hotel room that will remain unused.
I will never use Hotwire.com again.

This review is in regards to Hotwire's antiquated policy of not allowing any cancellations to bookings immediately after the time of booking. I called to cancel a reservation I had just made for a rental car 15-20 minutes after making it because I discovered I already had a reservation in place. Due to the callous and inflexible policies HotWire has put in place, a mere $30 is going to lose this company a lifetime of a customer’s future business. Hotwire's competitors in the wholesale arena already have these policies in place – one must only look at Travelocity who allows cancellations within 24 hours listing one of the main reasons as allowing customers to fix booking errors. The only reason I booked with Hotwire and not Travelocity was simply that I did not know HotWire had this policy in place and I had been comfortable booking with this company in the past. HotWire doesn’t have lower rates than other wholesalers that would warrant this policy. I will not be booking with HotWire.com ever again because of the frustration this policy has caused and will be advising friends and family that they should never book through HotWire due to business practices like these.

NB Since writing this review Hotwire have agreed to credit me with the price difference of their secret rate and what I would have paid at the hotel had I booked directly myself. According to the small print they probably didn't have to do this but as it is customer service I wanted to add this to counter some of my negative comments below. In sum: They have some great deals but their secret rates may not be cheaper than other sources so think carefully before using them. Overall I have found Hotwire do offer very competitive rates. I'VE JUST SPENT A LONG TIME ON THE PHONE TRYING TO SECURE A REFUND FOR THE PRICE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEIR SECRET RATE HOTEL AND WHAT I WOULD PAY IF I BOOKED DIRECT WITH THE SAME HOTEL WHICH WAS CHEAPER. I RANG, POINTED OUT THE HOTEL'S OWN WEBSITE, THE HOTWIRE MEMBER OF STAFF RANG THE HOTEL AND CONFIRMED IT WAS THE SAME ROOM. TO MY AMAZEMENT SHE THEN OFFERED TO REFUND ME LESS THAN A POUND!! APPARENTLY THEY ONLY MAKE COMPARISONS PRE TAX OR SOME SUCH OTHER EXCUSE. ALL I KNOW IS THAT I WOULD HAVE BEEN CHEAPER BOOKING THE SAME ROOM DIRECT WITH THE HOTEL ON THEIR WEBSITE AND INCLUDING ALL TAXES IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CHEAPER THAN THE HOTWIRE RATE. I NO LONGER BELIEVE WHAT THEY SAY BECAUSE THIS IS A CLEAR CASE OF WHEN THEY OWED ME A FULL REFUND OF THE DIFFERENCE. JUST CHECK WITH TRIVAGO WOULD BE MY ADVICE IN FUTURE. IVE JUSED HOTWIRE A LOT AND SOMETIMES THEY DEFINITELY HAVE GOOD DEALS. POINT IS THEY WON'T COUGH UP WHEN THEY DO GET IT WRONG SO WORTH LOOKING AT COMPARISON SITES AND NOT TAKING AS GIVEN THEY WILL FULFILL THEIR PRICE GUARANTEE. THAT IS MY EXPERIENCE
I booked two rooms on Hotwire for a hotel in London, each for 2 adults and 1 child. When I arrived in London, the rooms slept only 2 people per room. We had to book another room to accommodate everyone in our party (an additional $280 on top of the nearly $1,300 we already paid). The hotel did not receive the reservation directly from Hotwire, but rather from Expedia, who received the reservation from Hotwire. Expedia sent the reservation through for 1 adult and 1 child per room. Hotwire initially said they sent over the reservation for 2 adults and 1 child per room. Expedia says it's Hotwire's fault. Hotwire originally said it's Expedia's fault, but now Hotwire says it is the fault of the customer (me) and the customer must pay the full cost of the extra room.
Calling customer service for Hotwire was fruitless, and I was hung up upon by one person claiming to be a manager. When I called back, the representative would not put me through to a manager, until I insisted on knowing the representative's name and unique ID. The individual who finally came on the phone identified himself as a manager. He still said the customer must pay for the extra room. He refused to pass me to his manager and only begrudging gave me her first name and last initial. When I asked for her title, he only said she was a manager. I asked him, aren't you a manager, so how do you distinguish between the levels of manager. He then admitted he was a supervisor not a manager. He also said the managers don't take phone calls and he wouldn't provide me with his manager's contact information. I asked him where he was located and he said upper midwest, USA, and wouldn't provide the city and state. I asked where the corporate office for Hotwire was and he said San Francisco, but he didn't have any contact information for them.
I'm now disputing the charges with the credit card company and intend to locate the corporate HQ contact information for Hotwire. Leaving customers stranded in London without an adequate number of beds for all people travelling is not a good way to retain customers, and Hotwire has lost this customer.
Note: The hotel staff were very helpful in trying to resolve this issue and spent quite a bit of time talking with both Hotwire and Expedia. On the last call I had with Hotwire, they even tried to blame the hotel for not having the needed room, but the hotel had reserved us the exact room specified by Expedia.

Hotwire sells itself as discount hotel finder...but for the lower priced hotels they take most of the profit for themselves.
I booked a two star hotel for 3 nights....looking for a good price.
After I paid Hotwire revealed the name of the hotel.
So I went right to the hotel's website , put in the same dates and came up with a rate that was $1.50 per night...more than Hotwire's rate.
Now $1.50 cheaper a night is still cheaper, but if I had known the discount was going to be that miserly I would have just checked around hotel websites till I found a place that was in the right location and had the right amenities.
With hotwire you have no idea where the hotel is and what the name of the hotel is UNTIL AFTER you've paid.
When I called Hotwire asking why the discount was so small they said that the big discounts are for 4 and 5 star hotels. After Hotwire takes its cut there's hardly any savings left for the customer on the cheap hotels
If you are going to book a cheap hotel...skip Hotwire.com. They are making all the profits and you get the crumbs.
Book it direct or though a company that tells you the name up front so you can check it out BEFORE you buy.

I booked a flight and rental car for a trip from the U.S. to Canada. Hotwire screwed up both bookings despite sending me my "confirmation" notice. Four days after booking my trip, I received an email from Hotwire indicating that my flights were cancelled. I called Hotwire and they passed me on to the airline (Air Canada). Because I booked two months in advance, the Air Canada reservations agent was able to restore my booking. She indicated that Hotwire had not sent them our passenger ID numbers (which were clearly indicated on my itinerary). I gave the IDs to the agent and she got everything fixed. I let Hotwire know about the problem and that they might want to look into it. They blamed the problem on Air Canada and went no further. When booking a flight and rental car together, the system automatically sets the car pick up and drop off times in relation to the flight. Unfortunately, Hotwire's system reversed the pick up and drop off times so that my car was actually scheduled for pick up at 8pm despite my flight arrival at around noon. The rental car company (National) had plenty of cars but could not change the reservation because of the Hotwire booking. They told me to call Hotwire which I did. The Hotwire agent indicated that they couldn't change anything (they'd have to cancel both the flight and the car) and that I should just go ahead and do a new rental car booking (and eat the cost of the previously paid rental). After 80 minutes at the National desk and 30 minutes of cell phone charges in Canada, I ended up paying an extra $93 for my 7-day rental (on top of the already paid $177 incl. tax). The folks at National indicated that no Contract ID was provided by Hotwire and that was one reason why things took so long. Ultimately, I was lucky, I only lost 80 minutes and $93 in Canada before I could begin my vacation. Clearly Hotwire's booking system has serious flaws and, if you are silly enough to use them, be sure to call directly to all your travel vendors to actually confirm your flights, cars, and/or hotels (Hotwire's "confirmation" notice should under no circumstances be trusted). Additionally, don't book a package with Hotwire because if (when) something goes wrong and they need to cancel your reservation, you'll want the option to cancel individual components of your trip rather than cancel everything and then have to start all over again. Do yourself a favor: DO NOT USE HOTWIRE unless you want to take a chance with their faulty booking system and you absolutely enjoy completely useless support.
Defaulted to 12 noon pickup time for a car.
No forced choice on website, so didn't see that until after the last click. Figured I could change that. Not. If you make any mistake, any mistake at all, you are screwed.
Customer service was bored and rude.
Like "We screw you, that's how it goes!"
My wife and I recently planned a trip to Orlando as a surprise for our 7 year old daughter. We planned on arriving from August 1-19 and needed a car as we planned on travelling around Florida as well. I had previously rented from Hotwire and since my experience was good, I decided to go with them again.I rented a car (Ford Fusain or Similar) as I needed the space for our bags and other things for the entire time and price came to nearly $1000 USD. Once I completed the rental I found out that it was through Hertz which I was fine with.
Our problems began once we landed in Orlando on August 1. After travelling all day from YVR, we finally landed at Orlando International at around 8 pm. We worked our way to the Hertz counter and waited for the next agent. I proceeded to the counter with my confirmation email below in my hand. The agent looked up my reservation and told me that my reservation was only good for a small 2 door car and not a vehicle in the class of Ford Fusion based on Hertz’s classification. I told the agent that there must be a mistake as my confirmation through Hotwire states clearly a Ford Fusion or similar. The agent looked at me and said that this is an error on Hotwire’s part and that this happens all of the time. He told me I had 3 choices:
1) Take the smaller car than what was promised to me and written in my confirmation letter from Hotwire, "Ford Fusion or Similar"!
2) Pay the upgrade charge or $8/day to get the Ford Fusion which is in a higher category according to Hertz.
3) Forfeit my reservation as there is no refund given.
Reluctantly I agreed to pay the difference as my family was exhausted and the agent was not willing to honour the confirmation email from Hertz. The next morning (August 2), I contacted Hotwire from Orlando and spoke to an agent and told her my story. She was very helpful and mentioned to me that this was clearly Hertz’s error and that If I send in my documents they would correct this. I told her that we would not be back in Vancouver until August 19th and she assured me that this would be fine.
Upon our return to Vancouver I put a letter together and attached the receipt from Hertz for the additional charge of $153.36 and faxed it to Hotwire expecting my refund. To my surprise, I received an email from hotwire stating that I had requested and accepted an upgrade from Hertz and that they would not be refunding me. A few emails back and forth with me trying desperately to make them understand that I did not ask for an upgrade and that a Ford Fusion or Similar is what I had purchased and this is not an upgrade. They have declined to refund me!!!
It feels like Hotwire & Hertz is using this to take advantage of tourists travelling to Orlando by not honoring the reservation and making them pay for an upgrade just to get what they thought they had purchased. It’s a sneaky and dishonest scheme they have going on and I am so mad.
When i arrived hotel(which i booked through hotwire),they rejected my check in cuz they are not the member of hotwire.
We had to stay at airport for the first day of the trip.
When I claimed to hotwire about the problem, they refunded my booking. That's all.
They never apologize or never compensate for the error. They just told me do not use hotwire again. They screwed my trip and they don't do anything for this.
on my receipt, it says you dont have to to reconfirm your hotel. But that is totally lie. NEVER USE THIS SITE. OR YOU WILL SCREW YOUR TRIP JUST LIKE ME.
Hubby travels a lot for business. We needed to save a bit of money on this trip. Three star hotel for $67 sounded good, so booked it. Saved $15 off the standard price, right? Well "taxes and surcharges" for ONE NIGHT were $13.50. I've never seen hotel taxes -- even for a week-long stay -- go above $10.00. I'm surprised the Fed hasn't shut them down.

I used Hotwire in the past and got a couple good deals a few years ago. I don't know if management has changed or what but it's now a scam. They claim hotels are four stars that clearly are not and try to claim areas miles from the area they dangle as the neighborhood you are choosing. They divide up the center of town like a pie claiming to offer the tip of the pie slice, but your hotel will be in the crust at the edge of the pie. And it will be a two star quality.

Was in the process of booking to Boston but got the error message. CS told me that my account was put on deactivated list by risk mgmt team, without explaining why and how. When you call the # to RM team you will reach a unnamed VM. I would say this is pretty pathetic considering I've done business number of times with them again and consider myself a trustworthy and good customer. I don't have time or patience for games like this. And I find it rather disrespectful. Although reading other reviews I am happy I was deactivated; wouldn't want my hotel cancelled last minute when I arrive! That's just crazy! I have took my business elsewhere and booked with Expedia for comparable price! Goodbye Hotwire. Thanks for deactivating me; no need to be calling me back. I'm considering myself blessed from unforeseeable future disappointment.
I've already booked hotels from hotwire before and I was really happy with what we got in the secret hot rate because the prices we were paying were really a great discount of the original price, as they appear on the webpage. This time we decided to go to Vegas and do exactly the same. We booked a hotel that was supposed to be according to the standard rate around $236/n but with the secret hot rate, we could get it at $138/n (+ a hotel fee of $30/n: total $168/n).It was a great discount! So we booked it. When we received the name of the hotel and checked the price of this one in standard rate... this one was $169!!!! All this is fraud!!! A discount of $1????? Obviously I called them to complain and they said that the crossed price they put is an average for that day for that neighborhood and so so... and she keep on saying any other question? any other question? So disappointing!!! I'll never use hotwire again!!!
The hotel Hotwire booked me in has 2 sections, one is more like a 2-3 star (it feels like a Super 8-Best Western) hotel and the other is definitely a 4 star feel. The price the site was showing was actually for the nicer part of this hotel.
NOW I am going to have to pay $60/per night to actually upgrade to the part of the hotel that is considered 4 star quality.
If i wanted to book a Super 8 or Best western style room, I would choose it.
Hotwire will not get anymore business from our company, family or friends.
I made reservation with Hotwire. It's waste of money , no quality , when I asked to change there is no common courtesy even on pregnant women . Gave me very small bed for 2 people , when asked to change , no minim sense and not even refunded money upon cancellation. Don't recommend .
Before you read my story, please note: WHEN YOU BOOK HOTEL FROM HOTWIRE, YOU HAVE TO PAY BEFORE YOU KNOW WHICH HOTEL YOU ARE GOING TO STAY AND YOUR MONEY IS NON-REFUNDABLE AT ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!
I need to pick up my family members from Edmonton airport at midnight of Sep 15th. I booked one night hotel through Hotwire and was sent to Travelodge Leduc. I paid $79.38+$19.21tax=$98.59 (non-refundable), after I booked, I checked Travelodge Leduc website, the regular price of same condition is $84.5+$8.42(tax)=$92.57(And it is refundable!). This sounds ridiculous for me to book hotel from Hotwire. I called 1-866-468-9473 and a customer service representative told me that because the rate Hotwire is offering me BEFORE TAX is lower than the hotel price ($79.38 compare to $84.15), they can not do anything . I am very disappointed! I will never come back to Hotwire as it is like a trap for customer!
I was going to write really 'angree' message... When reading all reviews I realized that my $190 is just nothing
I tried booking a hotel and after completing checkout was redirected back to HotWire page where I found a message that they couldn't process my order.
At the same time my card was charged $180 already.
Custorer service told me that my account was blocked and they gave me 415-343-8808 phone number to call. I was asked to leave a messasge... 2 days after nobody called back. I called cuistomer service again and they suggested me calling the same number...
I opened dispute with my VISA - let's see...

In my opinion and my experience hotwire does not honestly provide good deals. I wanted to go to Cape Cod and used the so called secret hot rate hotels that is a scum in my opinion. They gave us a motel for $121 plus taxes that would regularly be less than a $100 and said that it was discounted. We called the motel directly and they were going for $99 and complained to hotwire. Hotwire only accepted to refund us the difference but we were stuck with a motel we could have called directly if we were not looking for deals. They claimed that the motel had just discounted which in my research was false. This motel goes for $50, $62, $75, $85, $99 during busiest season. We were expecting a hotel and not a motel. They need to list all possible hotels and if they are going to give customers a motel they need to let them know.
Several bad experiences with hotwire. The first time was when I booked a hotel for Niagara Falls, specifically in Ontario and not New York state, and wound up with an NY hotel that was 30 minutes away from where we were supposed to be anyway from the hidden-name hotel bookings. The second time occurred when I decided to give hotwire a second time. I booked a hotel a week in advance from traveling and had gotten two email confirmations of my booking. Once I reached the hotel, the manager who was working at reception said he had nothing in my name. He had received nothing from hotwire. So we had to call in to hotwire and see what had happened. No explaination, no refund. The guy I had to speak on the phone with was apathetic despite me trying to be understanding, and he helped book me into a new hotel. More expensive and with a lower star rating, yet it was 1 in the morning and I really needed somewhere to stay. Again, no refund. I reached the new hotel and guess what? They were full, no vacancy, and clueless on how hotwire had even booked me in. I called back, happened to receive the same guy, and he booked me into ANOTHER hotel, with a room that didn't suit the price. No refund again. The representative subtly gave me attitude while I booked and simply asked for an explanation ("It's not my fault, it's the company's, all I do is work here"). I was polite when I asked about had happened.
Not pleased by the services, to say the least. DON'T book with hotwire, unless you want a substandard , overpriced hotel about half an hour from your intended destination. Even then - you might have to go through several bookings, apathetic representatives, and lost money...
Booked a car through Hotwire to be rented in Denver. Paid for the car when I returned it in Denver for $152.00 two days later. When I got home I had another charge on my credit card for $387.00! I called Hotwire and they told me to fax my complaint to the "research team" which I tried to do. The fax number they gave me didn't work so I called again and they gave me a mailing address. They wouldn't give me an email. I have not heard back and if this isn't resolved, I won't be using Hotwire again.
I payed $370 for a converiable car that I booked with hotwire the rental car company that hotwire used was Alamo.. When I got to the rental car place no converiable car. So I called hotwire and was told sorry I can rebook you for $881.. Huh I thought I made a reservation. I was told from the Alamo that hotwire does this a lot. I had to take the car I was given and drive 80 miles to my vacation destination than after serval calls with Alamo they booked me with the car I reserved, However this Alamo who did the legwork on getting the promised deal not hotwire who was the middle man. Had Alamo not been willing to clean up hot-wires mess I would not of had the promised deal. See hotwire preys on the merchant and the consumer as victims for their "lower Prices"
Don't listen to these other reviews. I have had many great experiences with Hotwire over the past 7 years of using their site. The prices are so much better than Priceline and have never been let down in the approximately 20 times I have booked with them.
My only advice is to stick with a 4-star + to make sure you get the best hotel.
I used their system to book a hotel, went through the process of choosing an area, then selected the star rating I wanted. I confirmed all this and made the booking. They then show me the hotel I will be staying at, which is in a completely different area (50 km away from the area I selected)
The hotel is listed in the other area on their site, so it must be a bug with their software. I contacted them immediately and they refused to do anything about it "your reservation must remain confirmed with the original details provided at the time of booking. This is our final decision." was their response.
Do not use these thieves ever, they are just out to take you money and leave you stranded.

I received advertisement from Hotwire.com "Save up to 60% on hotels with low Hotwire Hot-Rates" while searching internet to book a hotel. I bid on a hotel not knowing its Name. Why? I was under impression of saving ("Save up to 60% on hotels …) so I booked a hotel through Hotwire.com "Hot-Rates" deal hoping to safe at least 10-15 %. After transaction was completed I received confirmation email with hotel name. Right away I checked rates with Expedia, Travelocity and even hotel's own web site and discovered I saved ZERO. All those internet sites would charge same rates if I searched for a hotel by Name! I was scammed indeed. From a consumer prospective I truly believe it was 100% FRAUD and miss advertising from Hotwire. Right away I called them at 1-866-468-9473 to cancel transaction and I talked to Customer service rep. Ashley and then Amy, id 0645, her supervisor. Amy said she could not help to cancel deal and promised a call back from her manager. On 07/31/2013 at 9:30 AM Amanda, id 1543, called me back and told basically "Dude, you screwed." She refused to cancel booking and to address my concern with upper Management.
I booked a hotel with hotwire knowing i could not cancel the reservation which was fine. However, LESS THAN 24 HOURS after making the reservation, hotwire themselves sends me an email saying they are having a one day sale and i can get the same hotel for $20 less a night.
i called their customer service to see if they could refund me the difference or use their "low price guarantee" and all i got was "no, sorry, can't help you. its policy"
DO NOT EVER BOOK WITH HOTWIRE!!!!
if anything ever were to go wrong there is no one at this company that cares about people or what may happen to you because "its not their policy"
It was one of those pay first and find out your flight information afterwards. I admit I accepted that. What I did not expect was to get only a 33 minute layover between the change of planes in 2 different concourses. Missed the connecting flight. Not my fault as the flight leaving the originating city left about 25 minutes late. Missed my uncle's funeral. What the hell? Hotwire's response was -- sorry, nothing we can do about it. How about scheduling flights where the customer actually has a reasonable chance of making the connection? Ridiculous. Never will use them again and will warn everyone I know not to use Hotwire.
I called Hotwire to book a 4 star hotel , the representative said I would get a 4 star hotel or higher, I agreed to the terms and book the hotel...when we got to the hotel, the hotel was very small, a little beat up, but diffinately not a 4 star hotel....even the front desk told me that they ere a 3 star...I called Hotwire and after my discussion was told it was my problem!!!! Now I am left holding the bag...never again will I used this service and I beg others not to you them either...maybe if we all refuse their services, they might wake up!!!!

The only reason they get 1 star is that there is no option for 0. These guys sell 2.5 star hotels as 3 star hotels and say they have a secret deal for you. Called them and they are very rude. Claim they don't follow the official diamond system. What a load of crock. They have the same hotel on one part listed as 2.5 stars then in the non revealed part it is listed as a 3 star. I will never use them again. Used pricline for 10 years and never had an issue. Their customer service was the most obnoxious I have spoken too..they booked holiday inn express downtown Detroit which is a 2.5 star and called it a 3 star
