I got a giftcard for books from any online store for about 48 £ for my birthday and I went to the bookdepository.co.uk because I've heard some booktubers talk about it and I ordered 5 books. I ordered them on a Wednesday and 3 of them were dispatched on the following Friday and the remaining 2 were dispatched on the following Monday. I live in Denmark so I didn't expect super fast delivery but all the books arrived 5 or 6 working days after they were dispatched and the estimated time was 7-10 working so I was pleasantly surprised. All of the books were in perfect condition when I got them and they were very cheap. I can definitely recommend this site.
Great website, have recommended to a lot of people. Free delivery worldwide and usually really fast. Have used the site heaps and there really isn't a cheaper place to buy if you want hard cover books. Massive savings if your buying from Australia but I have reduced the use of this site as electronic books have become more widely used. Maybe you guys could make an app to help sell your books
I ordered a book on February 15 for my book club. Today is March 2nd and I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY BOOK. My book club pushed their meet date back to March 9th. If it is not here by tomorrow I am cancelling my order and reading on a friends kindle. To male matters worse, all the website says is "processing". Wtf! I will never order another book from this site.
I've been ordering from Book Depository since July 2010 and thus far I have ordered more than 350 items - books, games, stationery. I have safely and quickly received each one of them, usually within 1-2 weeks. They offer an amazing variety of titles and I was able to obtain some very hard to find books. The prices are reasonable, though they used to be cheaper a couple of years ago. The delivery is free, which is probably the best thing about them, because if I order from Amazon, I have to pay more for delivery than for the item itself. Each book is separately and securely packaged. Customer service has always responded quickly and adequately. Their search engine however could use some improvement as it doesn't always give correct results. Also I prefer to order from BookDepository.com than from BookDepository.co.uk. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
This is the worst online store i have ever experienced. Template answer from customer service. Untrackable shipping. Did not resolve any issue at all. Stated that my item will be delivered within 10 days but after all, i never receive my order. I will not place order again in this site.
I've been ordering a lot from BD.co.uk for the last year and am happy to say everything came in time. The books were well packed, everything matched. Price is reasonable but I do remember they were cheaper before Amazon bought them. They dispatched my orders shortly after order and whenever I have contacted the customer service they were quick to respond and fix my issue. I know how long it takes for something to travel from the UK(where the company is based obviously) to my location so there was no surprise in the time it took to get the book to me. Free shipping is sweet and I end up ordering more things. I do realise that a problem may appear at some point in the path of order-dispatch-fly to me (with Royal Mail)-get the post here to deliver it, nothing is perfect all the time, but I trust the staff will be able and willing to help just as they are now. Bottom line: they have been wonderful.
Ordered book, delivery came out as 10 days later! Other books ordered at same time arrived 3 days after the order. Contacted them just after order but they cannot do express deliveries. It all smacks of not holding stock Don't use if reasonable delivery required
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!! I ordered two books from them for my grandaughter and neither of them were received. The first was delivered to the wrong address. I contacted the company by email (only way to contact them) and asked that a "call tag" be issued to UPS to redirect package. Simple solution. No help from customer service. Second book supposedly mailed and never arrived. When ordering through Amazon, there was no indication telling me this company is located in the U.K. Repeatedly contacted customer service who responded with emails to keep waiting or checking for package. Had to file two claims with Amazon to get refunds. Amazon needs to stop all business with this company.
Ordered set of books from The Book Depository for £70.
They did not ship them for well over a week and it was only when I enquired that they stated their supplier had not dispatched them... Not impressed, I'm sure the wording was something like "ready for immediate dispatch". It's clear that they don't hold stock but just order and ship it. Hardly a 'depository'.
The item did not turn up. They used Yodel as a courier (but apparently did not know this and claimed they used Royal Mail) and were not able to provide me with a shipping number to follow up. The only thing they could do was to offer a refund or to ship another set of books... Hardly good for a £70 set of books, how on Earth do they deal with fraud?
I got the impression (by email) that perhaps English wasn't the first language of the person I was speaking to... The emails seemed blunt without any air of 'customer service' to them (when compared to the customer service email I got from Yodel at least). I mean I don't want to be bullshitted but an apology when I finally did all the running round and located my lost parcel due to an error on the part of their courier would have been nice.
In summary, I wouldn't use these guys again. They weren't even the cheapest! I picked them because I needed to books fast and they appeared to have stock. What annoys me now is that I get bombarded with junk email from them...
As the title says, I have ordered from them twice now and am very impressed by the service they provide. My second order for two books got delivered in two parts but boy was it quick and in time for Christmas too! Thanks for a great service bd!
Ordered three books for birthday gifts. All in stock. None were dispatched after 3 days so I emailed to cancel. Took them so long to reply that my friend's birthday came and went so I had to repurchase. I then got a dispatch email for the order.
When I complained that I had asked for a cancellation in good time, they said the books weren't in stock when I ordered, but they had been sent now so it was tough and I could return them at my own expense. This is despite the fact that I emailed to cancel several days before they were dispatched.
I suggested that I should not have to pay to return them as it was not my error - the reply was simply: "Sorry for any inconvenience".
ZERO customer service.
Will never use them again and I urge you not to buy time-sensitive items or presents from here.
I ordered several books for birthday presents for my sons friends, I ordered them all in good time but over half didn't arrive in time. The website says 3-5 days for delivery, however this is definitely not the case. This left me running around at the last minute to find replacement presents. The customer service centre has been terrible, nobody has bothered to actually read my emails...everyone has just been met with a standard reply which hasn't answered any of my questions and you can't speak to anyone....they obviously don't care or can't be bothered. Avoid.
I'm a customer for the past 5 years and have always been pleased with everything up to 6 months ago. Recently, everytime I ordered a book, its taken between 5-10 working days just for it to be dispatched. This is not what it says on the website. I've questioned this each time its happened, and although their customer care team always respond, I feel that they should change the wording on the website as its misleading customers. I think I'll look for somewhere else to shop as I feel I can't trust the bookdepository anymore.
I've ordered from this website maybe six times now, and have never came across any trouble. The price of the books is so much cheaper than what the stores are selling, and they always arrive in around a week to two weeks time. This is now the only place where I purchase books, and I can always count on it to stock up on great new titles. I would definitely recommend this site.
