i have another booking and i am thinking in cancel it and get better infoirmation before hand.
They have been very unhelpful . I then got a car with a defective indicator. They weren't happy about that as if it was my fault. I then got another car which worked.
There was no explanation on how and where to get the car back to. The form to see all the damages on the car was not filled in properly and after the car change I didn't get a new copy for the new car.

Hi, I recently hired a car through CarDelMar (Europcar) from La Rochelle Airport, on arrival I was charged an extra 29.90 euro because I was collecting my car out of their opening hours, at no time while booking my car was it made obvious to me that this was going to happen, the times I put down when booking were purely based on my flight times, collection 10.30am, drop off 2.30pm, hardly unreasonable times! Had I known that daring to book a collection time to suit me, the customer, was going to incur extra cost I certainly would not of booked the car. Despite my controlled protests it was made very clear, no pay, no car. I have written to CarDelMar outlining my disappointment in having to pay this extra cost and am awaiting their reply with interest?
Prices are excellent and the service is great which made it a very positive experience for me. Had some questions about the rental terms and conditions regarding the supplier Avis (at Florence airport). Got answered by a very polite gentleman who seemed to know all the answers. Had no problems with pick/return and the price was spot on! You have a new favorite customer ;).....
Thanks to this site I got a genius deal for a car on Ibiza. Not only was the price super cheap, there were also no hidden costs of any kind. So I was amazed to hear from Goldcar that everything was alright and I could pick up my car. Then a little problem occured, they didn't have any cars left in the category that I booked. So the gave me a free upgrade! That completely made my holiday! Will fur sure visit this site again if I ever need a to hire a car.
CarDelMar found by far the most competitive rates for me for the car hire that I want, and it is with supposedly one of the better hire companies, Avis. Unfortunately Avis did not really live up to expectations. First feedback upon booking was that the car I chose is not available, so would I mind accepting a Chevy Traverse instead. Very odd as the car that I chose was indeed a Chevy Traverse. CarDelMar sorted it out, except that now my car return location on my voucher seems to have changed. Again, CarDelMar sorted it out and gave me the correct voucher. Upon pick-up, I was sold an upgrade at a very good price to a Cadilac Escalade. But then I noticed that the return location is still wrong, so Avis needed to make a few calls to sort it out. When I got to the car, I found out that it was different car, not the upgraded Escalade, so I had to go back to the rental desk, which is some way from the car pick up area, and was told that even though I paid for the upgrade, I could not return the Escalade to the location I wanted, so they gave me another car instead. By this time I was already too tired after a long flight and grudgingly took the car that I didn't really want, but had to pay $200 for the upgrade anyway. CarDelMar is good and helpful, but their communication line with Avis needs some serious improvements.
The first car broke down at an isolated spot ! We waited 4 hours for a replacement car! The second car we discovered the next day had no air conditioning which limited the time and distance we could travel and ruined half our holiday. They would not supply a replacement car for this faulty one . Instead we would have had to drive for 2 hours to their nearest station!
We ' returned ' the first car full of petrol! We were given a car half full ! We returned a car with a 3/8 full tank . The same amount as the original car . They wanted to charge us for the difference plus a refuelling charge! Unbelievable!
The first car was not new - 27000 km - but had a classy interior and good brakes . The second car has 23000 km on the clock ( but real??) and a basic spec with poor brakes !
The most important failure was the total lack of care for the customer in these two failures . Not one person said 'sorry for your considerable inconvenience!'
This is our second major problem with EuropCar! Never again will we rent with them .
Received my prepaid voucher which acts as payment you had all my details but when we arrived at Cardiff airport the offices were shut we managed to get in touch with Europcar they told us they had informed you that they were unable to supply a car as their office closes at 1pm and we would have to return the following day at 1-30pm to collect another car .We had arranged to go to our daughters birthday party on arrival but by the time we had transport to get to our hotel 3 hours later it was to late. We had to use a taxi to get back to Cardiff airport the following day and pay eurocar again for the car hire .My reason for going home was to attend my fathers funeral and had arranged to meet with the vicar and the undertaker on the Sunday morning these had to be rearranged we did not need this hassle .As we never had the car off you I trust you will refund our monies and compensate us for all the inconvenience and taxi hire that was forced upon us The gentleman that we spoke with at europcar was Mr Keiron Sweet station manager I trust this e-mail reaches the person who deals with this and I await your reply
After being conned by rentalcars and having made bad experiences with both atlas choise and Avis directly. I've decided to try them. I have to say, they do what they say and I discovered no hidden charges. All the info on the website is crystal clear and you can choose what car, rental company, insurance, fuel policy you want. So no surprises, and that is how i like it and how it should be. Keep it going guys!
I never really heard of Car del mar but after finding them on Google I've decided to try them out for my holiday on Ibiza. They are a smaller company based in Germany I think. I must say, the price they offered was absolutely unbeatable and you can ready all the conditions and policies before closing the deal, which was very reassuring to me. They delivered what I expected and had no troubles what so ever. Will def. rent here again.
I hire cars here for a number of reasons: they have the cheapest prices, the fact that you can choose your own car rental agency (others keep it a mystery until you've paid) and the fact that their customer support is top notch. My last rental in Porto gave me some problems (drove back up against a wall). After sending cardelmar the details, I got my money back earlier than the rental agency claimed the money. All in all, they've never failed me!
Have just returned from Kerry, Ireland once more and had a good time. We did our HIRE CAR this time through CarDelMar and couldn't fault the service we received - both before we left home and once in Ireland. The car we had was excellent and very good value for money. We will be sure to use them again.
Fine eventually but despite spelling we needed an estate car (combi) when booking Europcar the local partner sais type of car was not guaranteed purly the valve, but after a long time of heated language we got what we booked. Then there was the insurance, no we were told we were not covered for the excess and that was that. Europcar is as good as any firm if not better as I have had brakes fail and clutches burn out with other firms at Barcelona airport. If you are not happy with the car when picking up, the moral is complain like hell!
No i30 available @ Sydney Airport - in fact they had nothing anybody else wanted either! The Audi was OK but not a patch on the i30 We had handed back at Melbourne that morning. Not your fault but........
The car hire process was fine, but the deal CarDelMar offered for my 7-day hire on Madeira (whilst amongst the cheapest) was based on the compulsory purchase of a full tank of fuel at the point of hire (costing 102 euros) and "bring the car back empty".
1. This encourages people to make unnecessary journeys to get better value for the spend.
2. The car-hire company make a huge mark-up on the full-tank sale, especially since no-one is going to risk running the fuel completely to empty.
3. It's not a pleasant experience driving a car with almost no fuel in an unfamiliar locality where you have no idea how far you are from the nearest filling station.
Bad, bad, bad. Shame on you CarDelMar!
Another time, I would check all the rental terms carefully before choosing to go with CarDelMar. Don't assume anything!
Website is easy to use, hire desk is located at the airport, good value, clear information especially regarding 'the fuel policy'.
Be certain about the drop off times though; i was early and the shutters of the desk were closed. it opened though at the time i had arranged that i would drop off the car!
Have never let me down. Since I need a car frequently because of my job, a reliable company like this one is a keeper. Site is clear about what to expect from each supplier they offer and answers to all questions can be found either on the site or be provided by their service team. With my last rental, I had some damage but due to the insurance I booked with them, the money was back on my account by the time I was back home, brilliant!
With cheap prices like they have, you just keep anticipating a catch but luckily there isn't one. All the conditions are stated on the site before you book, so you are fully informed. I like the fact that you can choose your own rental company and fuel policy etc, compared to other sites which let you in the dark with who you are renting with until you've paid. Keep it up lads!
I've been renting with this company for the last 2 years and they have (luckily) never failed me. always had some good deals on rental cars and always delivered. Even when you have some questions, the help desk employees seem capable and have excellent knowledge of what they sell. Got another great deal for my vacation in Ibiza this summer.
Car del mar offered me a very competitive price on a car in Split (Croatia). Had my doubts since I've never hired through them before. Got a brand new car from their supplier Oryx. Upon return everything went smoothly and the car was perfect. Could not have gone better. All my doubts were for nothing. Will def. hire here again next time.
This is the second time in 12 months we have rented through CardelMar and the price was excellent in Mexico and all inclusive, so no need to worry about buying insurance in Cancun. The car we rented was tatty, but fine and large enough for a family of four. Great value and no hassle!

everything went like clockwork with this company. We missed our connecting flight into Sydney so I had to phone twice to Europcar to change our pick up time but they were great, and the rep waited for us till 11.30pm so we got the car on arrival- great service!
These comments relate to a 4-day hire in the Algarve - with Avis.
1. Car collected in the dark, impossible to examine it. Slight damage noted following morning. Avis advised by phone; I was assured their records would be annotated accordingly. Upon return I was told there was no record. It took them 5 minutes to locate it on their computer. Until then the damage had been considered my responsibility.
2. Fuel policy is full-to-full. An amount of 74 € was set against my credit card in case I did not return the car with a full tank. Had I returned the car three-quarters full the total amount would have been debited.
3. CarDelMar supply a payment voucher. At end of hire Avis do their own calculation and deduct the voucher value from their figure. I was required to pay an, admittedly small, additional amount. In theory this could be substantial - with no warning.
4. I wanted to contact CarDelMar by e-mail. Their website says this is possible but I couldn't find the address anywhere - just FAQ or a premium-rated phone line.
5. Avis personnel very welcoming on arrival but (different ones) a bit sniffy on departure. Because of the damage issue ?
I hope this has been a bit of help. I look forward to receiving some kind of response from CarDelMar and/or Avis. Any bets ?
Hired a car for a short trip to Iceland. Cardelmar rates were good and they quickly confirmed availability. Great service from this company. We hadn't used them before, but will certainly consider them in future.
I rented a car through Cardelmar with Avis in Gran Canaria, and unfortunately it was damaged in a car park when we were not present. Although it suffered only a minor scratch Avis billed me for €443 as soon as I brought it back, even though this was only an "estimate".
Fortunately I had taken full insurance from Cardelmar, and their online claims and settlement service was excellent resulting in a refund befiore my credit card payment for the damage was due. Cardelmar was friendly and helpful on the phone, and agreed to receive files (photographs of documents) by email when they could not be uploaded.
I would thoroughly recommend Cardelmar and will happily continue to use them. But as for Avis -- their "estimate" was a cynical revenue collection exercise that brings their industry into disrepute!
The booking with Cardelmar went very great, as usual. When we came at the Hertzoffice at the airport, the employee was not very friendly. She highly recommended several insurances that I did not need, because Cardelmar has an Allinclusiveplus insurance. At that time she told me that if there would be just a little spot on the car, she would claim an amount of 850 euro! Ridiculous!
Other times we make reservations with Centauro, and we never had any problems. Next time no Hertz for us...

Got to France, and the company CDM use is Advantage, a subsiduary of Hertz. They use Hertz cars, the old and damaged ones.
Several months after the rental, Advantage billed me for additional charges, "Gold Saga Charge". This has also been reported on several review sites. I did not authorise any additional charges, I did not incur any parking or speeding fines, or any toll fees. I think they try this to see how many people don't check their statements and they clean up on extra costs.

Car del Mar took my money for a car booking in July 2012. In december 2012 I received a credit card charge from a third party car hire company. I contacted car del Mar to find out what it was for. After a further month of emailing, Car del Mar sent me an answer: they did not know what the charge was for and that I would have to speak directly to the third party. I have no details for this party. It was then impossible to raise a complaint with Car del Mar, unless I paid to call them on a German landline (from the UK). I find this unacceptable since random money has been taken from my account with no explanation and Car del Mar is refusing to accept any responsibility.
car caught fire at a set of lights, strangers alerted us. Europe car useless, lost nearly 2 days of our (5 day) holiday dealing with replacement car and issues.
